Fantasy Story

Over the past 3 weeks, we have been learning about different fantasy stories. This week we are going to writing our fantasy story. The children have named lots of their favourites, Disney was very popular. What’s your favourite?

Fire awareness visit

Today we had a visit from four members of West Midlands Fire Service. We learnt about safety tips and how to keep safe.

Art week

Today we displayed our artwork that we created last week.

America Day

Today we are celebrating our new topic by having an America day. Children came in dressed in all sorts of things from a hot dog to Dolly Parton.

Anaesthetics

This week, as part of our potions topic, are looking at potions that have really helped us. We found out before 1840 people were sat up with no anaesthetic for surgery. Not surprisingly it was claimed 85% of people didn’t survive. However since then, medicines and practises have advanced so much that more complicated surgeries take place that could only have been dreamt about in the past.

We are coming to the end of our topic on potions and we are focusing on who would use them and where they would live? We came up with our ideas and these are some of the creations.

Happiness

Today we have been looking at what makes us happy. We will be using cotton wool words. Happiness is an emotion and we can feel it inside and display it externally.

Mixed media collages

In art this week we have been looking at 4 different artists, who have potions in their work. We then decided to turn one of their pieces into a mixed media collage. Some of the children were a little unsure to start with, but got it in the end.
